March-April Film Industry Events, Workshops and Calls for Entries

SATURDAY, MARCH 27, 2010: Production 101 technical workshop covering three main areas: Camera, Grip & Lighting and Sound. $35/$20 Members. Sponsored by Idaho Media Professionals. Instructors: Dave Butler brings over 20 years of experience to the camera portion. Dan Allers has lit more than 520 live stage productions and dozens of television shows and will direct the grip & lighting portion. Sharon Larson , with 20 years of experience as a sound engineer, will condlude the day with the sound portion. 9am-4pm (one hour lunch); Doors open at 8:30. Film Industry Panel Discussion - April Fettucini Forum in Boise

The popular gathering The Fettucine Forum will feature the topic of The Film Industry in Idaho on April 1, 2010 at 5pm at the Rose Room in Boise, 718 W. Idaho (upstairs). Panelists: Peg Owens, Idaho Film Office; Sandra Cavanaugh, Silverdraft Studios; Travis Schwarz, Clockriders; Lorena Davis, North by Northwest Productions and Josie Pusl, The Flicks. Saturday, April 3: SAG Workshop. $30/Advance; $40/at the door; presented by Act Across America! What you need to know about the Screen Actors Guild, especially in a right-to-work state like Idaho. A must for actors, producers, production managers, directors and others in the industry. Monday Night Actor's Workout

Ongoing Scene Study Class. Acting is a skill that takes practice. Join a weekly Monday night workout to playfully explore your talent no matter how long you have been acting. $15 per class. The Wyoming Short Film Contest is open for entries. Submit videos online at www.wyomingshortfilmcontest.com. $25,000 first prize for winning entry with a Wyoming storyline, featuring Wyoming, or presents the state as a major character. Due date: April 30, 2010; No entry fee. Any style or genre of film. Up to 15 minutes long (not including credits). Prize: $25,000 towards next project shot in Wyoming.

i48 | 2010 - 7th annual Idaho Forty Eight Hour Film Competition and Festival. Teams of filmmakers from anywhere in Idaho will have 48 hours to write, pre-produce, cast, shoot, and edit an original short film 4-7 minutes long. A week later, all completed films will be screened at the Flicks in Boise, followed by a “Best Of i48” Screening and Awards Ceremony at the Egyptian Theater. Subsequent screenings will be held in other participating cities throughout Idaho. Competition: June 4-6, 2010; Register by May 15; Fee: $50 (After May 15: $100); Screening: Saturday, June 12 at The Flicks; Best of i48 : Sunday, June 13 at The Egyptian.
